  • What the "austerity does not work" crowd fail to understand is that "austerity" is not so much a "plan" as it is a RESULT. Even Keynes understood that eventually you have to repay debt, one way or another.

  • The stimulus spending did help It only prolonged the inevitable correction from years of fiscal irresponsibility. Which is really quite the opposite of helping by compounding future debt (and the level of "austerity" which countries like Greece can no longer avoid).
